It’s post Oscar season and everyone is raving over the award winning 12 Years A Slave actorLuptia Nyong’o. It is safe to say that Lupita has become an “It Girl” in Hollywood since her debut in the Steve McQueen film. Her success is welcomed and a sigh of relief to many who have seen actors of color slighted by the Academy. Lupita is all over my Tumblr dashboard, as both a fashion icon and an inspirational voice.  But with all this attention and acclaim comes concerns about fetishization from fans who find pieces of hope for themselves in Lupita’s story.
